The Voices
Editorial Design
I participated in redesigning a newspaper, emphasizing the voice and opinion section, at a time when most digital platforms and publications employed neutral sans-serif typefaces. This aesthetic promoted external equality but also reduced visual distinctions, making all VOICES appear similar and indistinguishable.
This project examines how typeface and typography can revive an authentic editorial voice that maintains credibility and honors individual expression. A humanistic serif acts like its own voice: expressive, unique, and always distinctive.
Reviving the Human Voice- Feature Display
The new typeface brings a human touch to the page.
A large, expressive serif font is the focal point of "The Voices" section's visual identity.
It stands out not through volume, but through presence. It creates a strong, memorable visual identity.
The delicate yet assertive serif mimics the way human voices behave:
Gentle but firm, soft but strong, expressive without shouting.
Enhancing typography to allow each story its own space, weight, and voice.
This typeface represents the hope that all voices—both current and future—are recognized, listened to, and valued. It will keep guiding an editorial transition, steering the newspaper toward a more human, expressive, and voice-focused future.
