Founding Response
Founding Response is a typographic work that introduces reflective text into public spaces. This textual intervention challenges the prevalence of commercial and directive language in these environments.
When we read a piece of text, its words, sentence structure, and context allow for different meanings. Our personal experiences influence our understanding, what we know, and our emotions—sometimes even by unconscious biases—that lead us to expect the best or worst possible interpretation.
When these texts appear in the urban landscape, they become part of our experience of space.
They stop being just neutral information and instead serve as triggers for thought, imagination, and negotiation. Our personal experiences with space and our emotional states have a significant impact on how we interpret words, conversations, and public messages.
This way, the city has a voice, but it's always a mix of many different voices.
